About this webinar
The new Cognitive Design release introduces Design of Experiments for the concept phase. Until now, exploration was bounded by engineering hours: change a parameter, rerun, compare, repeat, and stop when the schedule runs out. Now you define what varies and within which ranges, and the platform generates and evaluates the variants systematically, turning weeks of manual iterations into hours. Each variant is produced by the topology optimization, manufacturing-driven design, and simulation capabilities you already use. In 30 to 40 minutes, see it live.
What you'll see
- You set the bounds, the platform runs the iterations. Select the workflow parameters to vary, their ranges, and the number of iterations in the DoE panel. Exploration stays strictly within those bounds, deterministic and traceable.
- Topology optimization settings, chosen from the results. See how volume fraction, smoothing, and hole creation shape each result. Converge on the configuration with the best balance of mass, stress, and displacement.
- Cost and CO2 now count in the concept phase. Cost and carbon footprint usually surface downstream, once the geometry is already committed. Each variant is now evaluated on both, alongside performance and manufacturability, and additive manufacturing, casting, and machining, each explored in its own workflow, are compared side by side so the process choice rests on data.
- Decisions you can explain and replay. Every variant lands in Design Explorer with its full parameter history, ready for design review. The exploration logic stays in a reusable workflow for the next program.
- Stress and natural frequency requirements built into topology optimization. Keep stiffness as the objective while imposing your allowable stress, and set natural frequency targets away from operating excitations. The optimized concept already meets them, with less material added back after the run.
